Ambulance Dedicated to Serve Kids with Cancer (08/10)
A state-of-the-art, fully equipped ambulance was dedicated in memory of Omri Attia, the thirteen year old cancer patient for whom over 32,000 people joined Ezer Mizion's registry in December 2007 in the hope of saving his life.

Omri had cancer and his only hope of survival was a stem cell transplant. No matching donor was found in any registry throughout the world.

In the hope of saving Omri and hundreds of other cancer patients searching for a matching donor, Ezer Mizion coordinated a huge drive throughout Israel. The drive was preceded by a massive public awareness campaign focusing on the importance of joing stem cell registries and the critical need for unrelated bone marrow donors.

Response was enthusiastic, a matching donor was found and in January 2008 Omri had his transplant.

Omri was a charismatic, warm and courageous person. He radiated hope and a powerful love of life. Unfortunately, he developed a severe infection and passed away in May 2009. To date over 90 matches for other cancer patients in need of a stem cell transplant were found from people who joined the registry at Omri's drive.

An ambulance was dedicated in Omri's memory to serve children with cancer who are staying at Ezer Mizion's guest home for cancer patients. The ambulance will transport kids to and from treatment sessions and to "fulfill a dream" projects, etc. perpetuating Omri's legacy that lives on in our hearts.
