| Ezer Mizion ambulance drivers took part in a blood drawing course given by Israel's Ministry of health.
The course earned the drivers the Health Ministry's certification as licensed phlebotomists (blood takers). The Ministry of Health requires this specialized certificate to authorize ambulance drivers to take blood, beyond the EMT certification that all the ambulance drivers have.
This training is especially important for the Ezer Mizion Bone Marrow Donor Registry, as it authorizes the drivers to take blood samples during the major annual bone marrow donor recruitment drives. In addition, they are able to draw blood from donors who were found to be a potential match for a bone marrow donation, and need to undergo additional blood tests to confirm that they are physically fit to go through with the donation. |
