At Ezer Mizion we got to know Alan shortly after he was diagnosed with leukemia. It was then that we teamed up with his friends and family in an intense search to find the bone marrow donor who would save his life.

We are deeply pained that we did not succeed in finding the matching donor who could have saved Alan's life. The sand in Alan's hourglass ran out too soon...

At Ezer Mizion, we made supreme efforts to save Alan.  We were challenged with the mission and brought it to all of Israel in the best way that was humanly possible.  

The amazing, overwhelming expression of solidarity and caring that resulted was nothing less than inspiring and uplifting. Over 34,471people joined Ezer Mizion's Registry as part of the Save Alan Cohen Drive.  

The outcome for us now, with Alan's untimely passing, is the deep sense of loss that we are all experiencing.

Together with our grief, we are left with the message that Alan's life has charged us: that life is fragile and precious and sometimes too fleeting.  It is capped with the mission that his illness conveyed: that no one is immune to cancer and that - above all - we must intensify our efforts and expand the registry so that every Jewish patient will find a match.

Alan's legacy will live on, through his loving wife and family, his beautiful daughters, his devoted friends, and through his donor pool at Ezer Mizion.
