"You Have Given Me the Strength to Keep Fighting!" (06/09)
Laughter is the best medicine. Just ask the doctors who time and again are astounded by the blood work results of patients returning from the annual fun retreat in London organized by Ezer Mizion!

Every year two groups of cancer patients go off for an exciting week-long trip to London packed with all kinds of thrilling experiences. This year, one group included 20 adolescents, teens and young adults ages 10-20, while the second group numbered 24 young mothers, all of them cancer patients.

The groups were graciously hosted in London by the Zisser Family at the Victoria Park Plaza Hotel and enjoyed the warm, congenial hospitality of Uri Geller, who has been welcoming the Ezer Mizion groups at his home for years, doing everything in his power to make sure that their experience is truly memorable.

During their stay, they enjoyed a view of the entire city at the London Eye "Millenium Wheel". They visited the famous Madame Tussaud Museum, were guests at the Chelsea All-Star Team's locker room, played mini-golf, and watched elaborate performances. And - so that they would return not only with fond memories, but also with a suitcase full of gifts - they were given pocket money which they used to buy themselves fantastic toys and games at Hamley's, the world's largest toy store.

During the London trip, Ezer Mizion gives the patients the good things that life has to offer to revive their spirits and boost them with an injection of encouragement. The purpose of the trip is to pluck the patients out of the treatment routine, provide them with an opportunity to temporarily forget the pain and constant fear, and put smiles in their hearts. In short, a release from syringes and doctors through a dreamlike week of unadulterated fun.

The patients' have a hard time finding the right words to express their happiness at this blessed reprieve in their fierce battle with cancer. Ezer Mizion staff chaperoning the tour was especially moved when, at the closing banquet, one of the women announced that she had been ready to give up and was planning to refuse further cancer therapy, but this trip has changed her mind. "You have given me the strength and the will to keep fighting!!!"
