Seven patients whose lives were saved thanks to the National Bone Marrow Donors Bank of Ezer Mizion were finally able to meet their donors this week and thank them personally for the precious gift that they gave them - life.

The emotional encounter of the seven pairs of bone marrow donors and the patients whose lives were saved by their donation took place at Oranit, Ezer Mizion's Guest Home for children with cancer in Petach Tikvah.

When the seven pairs of donors and recipients met at this special gathering, over a year had elapsed since the actual bone marrow transplants had taken place. Standard protocol for bone marrow donations is to facilitate such an encounter only at the conclusion of a year from the time of the transplant.

These seven patients represent just a small fraction of the 412 dangerously ill individuals whose lives were saved thus far thanks to the National Bone Marrow Donors Bank of Ezer Mizion, today numbering a staggering 384,196 potential donors.
