| This year, once again, Ezer Mizion's network of ambulances and special vehicles were on call to transport the handicapped and mobility impaired population coming to pray at the gravesite of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai on Lag Ba'omer. Eight ambulaces shuttled their passengers from the Ein Hozim, Parod and Safsufa parking lots to the site and back.
In keeping with a decision of the National Traffic Police, which supervises and manages the massive project of directing and arranging traffic at the intercity junctions leading to Meron, special parking spots were set aside for the handicapped and mobility impaired in these three lots. From there, they were brought by Ezer Mizion ambulances and specially fitted vehicles all the way to the gravesite and back to the lot.
Ezer Mizion manned a special telephone number at the Ezer Mizion headquarters on site, where people could call upon arrival at the parking lots, without needing to call in advance. "If not for Ezer Mizion, I could never have dreamed of praying by Rabbi Shimon." This refrain was heard again and again, as grateful people in wheelchairs and hobbling with walkers profusely thanked Ezer Mizion for their invaluable and gracious assistance. |
