| On November 28, UK supporters of Ezer Mizion's International Bone Marrow Registry gathered for the Investment for Life Dinner at the Park Lane Hotel in London.
Held in memory of notable businessman and philanthropist David Lewis z"l, Ofra Konikoff, Chief Transplant Coordinator, presented David's widow Ruth Lewis with a beautiful picture painted by Uri, an 11-year-old boy who sadly passed away from cancer recently. Debbie Lewis spoke warmly of her father's involvement with both Ezer Mizion and Israel.
Dr Bracha Zisser, Director of the Registry, spoke passionately following an emotional film on Ezer Mizion's lifesaving work.
Guests were moved by a film highlighting the personal story of Avichai Fund whose life was saved by Ziv Shwartsman, a soldier who joined the registry as part of his induction into the IDF.
Dinner Chairman - Martin Moshal - a long-time friend of the Ezer Mizion Registry, rallied the guests, informing them of how their participation and support can help to save lives around the world.
In the last 13 years, Ezer Mizion has saved more than 900 people worldwide.
The room was truly inspired by guest speaker Josh Sundquist, a cancer survivor, who lost his leg to the disease as a child. Spurred on to make the most out of life, he joined the US Paralympic Ski Team in 2006. Josh reinforced the importance of Ezer Mizion's support programs to assist cancer patients in making a full recovery.
The evening ended with special guest and friend of Ezer Mizion - Uri Geller - spontaneously taking to the stage as he delighted the audience with a fascinating fork bending demonstration. |
