Project Chayil, a program aimed at promoting healthy living among golden agers, has recently expanded its activities to create safe home environments for the elderly.
Project Chayil's trained volunteer seniors visit the homes of elderly people to identify and eliminate possible dangers, thus preventing falls and accidents. Project Chayil volunteers also offer nutritional counseling, coordinate walking groups, and administer vision, hearing and balance tests.
Project Chayil was created by Ezer Mizion's Golden Age Division in partnership with the Joint Distribution Committee, the local municipality and Eshel, and currently operates in the Tel Aviv area. Plans are underway to expand this successful program to other cities in Israel.
