Echoes from London Trip for Kids with Cancer - Spring 2011
Countdown...3...2...1 - Take-off!

It was a group of about 30 excited children and teenagers with cancer that boarded the plane at Ben Gurion airport and set off for a week of fun and excitement in London coordinated and hosted by Ezer Mizion's Cancer Division and accompanied by dedicated staff and medical supervision.

The fun began even before the plane took off - with a fascinating visit in the pilot's cabin. For a divine seven days, the painful treatments and tiresome hospital stays were exchanged for a whirlwind visit, packed with exhilarating experiences.

Since the children's return, the expressions of thanks and shared memories have not stopped pouring in. The children and their parents, as well as all the good souls who gave of their time to make the trip a success, relished the heart-warming impressions of the trip long after the plane touched down once again in Israel, and bursting with appreciation:

"Thanks, Ezer Mizion, for an absolutely amazing week! It was truly a once in a lifetime experience!"

"Every detail was so phenomenally planned to make the week simply perfect. It was worth coming to London even just for the scrumptious, lovingly prepared sandwiches!"

Many participants mentioned how wonderful it was to meet so many other courageous kids sharing their same challenges: "Thanks for the humongous opportunity to get to know such terrific friends!"

Every day of the trip was used to the utmost, with visits to tourist sites, such as the Arsenal Stadium, Ripley's Museum, London Aquarium, and more. The children were treated to performances and a row of gifts and surprises.

Dana Frieder, Israel TV star and children's entertainer, accompanied the group for the duration of the trip. "Thanks, Dana, for keeping us smiling, from beginning to end!"

The folks at Ezer Mizion as wree amazed by all the people who worked to make the trip such a success:

"Asaf - we enjoyed every minute with you! Daniel, thanks for all the help!"

"A tremendous thank you to Dr. Bracha and Motti Zisser for making the unsurpassed trip possible and for all the effort that went into it."

"A great big thanks to Dr. Kelly Avrahami and nurse Tamar for your devoted care, to Dana, and to the unbelievable staff of Oranit!"

Not to be forgotten were all the folks in London who made it their personal goal to bring joy to the children - "Our deepest thanks to the entire London community - and especially to Simon, Shoshana Morer and James Harari for the amazing party they put together - and for all their devoted attention throughout the trip!"

At that party, Yamit Sol, Dana's friend from the "pajamas" stopped in for a visit, and a special messenger from Hamley's Department Store came to give each of the children a bag stuffed with games.

Many of the recipients of the "thank you" messages fended off the thanks and insisted that "The children were an inspiration to me!" They warmly wished the children and all other cancer patients "good health, long life and lots of joy and happiness!"

One of the warmest, most expressive messages arrived from someone who was not on the trip at all:  "Ezer Mizion, you cannot imagine how much joy you brought to these children. I wasn't there, but 'a picture is worth a thousand words!' Just by looking at the grinning faces in the photos, you can feel the joy suffusing each child, teen and adult. Ezer Mizion, the credit goes to you - for being there every minute, just so the child in pain will know that there is what to live for - and that the faith in a better future doesn't slack, even for a moment."
