Project Hakallah (Respite Program) arranges for handicapped children to spend brief periods away from home with trained, affectionate, paid host families.
The goal of this program is to give parents and siblings a break from the constant physical and emotional demands of caring for children with special needs. It also allows the child to experience different relationships in a positive discipline framework.
Ezer Mizion trains foster families to care for these children, and provides both the natural and foster families with ongoing supervision and support.
Partners with Ezer Mizion in this project are: the Rehabilitation Department of the Ministry of Social Services; Ashalim, the Association for Planning and Development of Services for Children and Youth at Risk (a branch of the Joint Distribution Committee); and local municipalities. |
