Ezer Mizion's Trauma & Crisis Squads mobilize immediately after emergencies such as terror attacks to assist victims and their families. If necessary, Ezer Mizion personnel are available to assist at the site of terror attacks. But the major role of the Trauma Squad after an attack is to augment the work of medical personnel, who are busy caring for the wounded. Rescue workers and hospital staff rely on Ezer Mizion to provide for the many non-medical needs of terror victims and their families.
In addition to terror attacks and war situations, Ezer Mizion's crisis units are available to help in any type of emergency.
Helping Terror Victims Heal
Victims of terror soon fade from the headlines and from the public consciousness, but the road to physical and psychological recovery is often long and painful. Ezer Mizion steps in with its Terror Orphan Program and other services to help terror victims and their families through the long phase of rehabilitation and recovery.
One of the many ways in which Ezer Mizion helps victims of terror and their families is through its Food Distribution Program. Volunteers bring hot meals to relatives and friends staying with victims in hospitals, to families sitting shiva after loss of a loved one, and to families who have lost a provider in an attack.
Ezer Mizion volunteers visit victims throughout hospital stays, and provide assistance and support in the home until the family adjusts and makes permanent arrangements. When injured terror victims are released from the hospital, they often require ambulance transport home. Many also need transportation to and from appointments for therapy and rehabilitation for months after they return home. Ezer Mizion's ambulances and volunteer vehicles are available for these terror victims for as long as they require transportation to medical appointments.
Ezer Mizion loans medical equipment, mobility aids, and physiotherapy equipment for the duration of the recovery period.
Ezer Mizion's advocacy unit provides information and guidance on available services and financial benefits for terror victims.
Lost and Missing Persons
Ezer Mizion maintains an independent missing persons unit that works together with Israel police to coordinate searches. The Search Command Room calls upon a list of active Ezer Mizion volunteers to assist with search efforts. Among the volunteers are Bedouin trackers, who are known for their outstanding search abilities. Ezer Mizion also uses search dogs for these purposes and is often called upon repeatedly by local authority for assistance in cases of missing individuals.
