Israel's National Insurance Institute (NII) grants an allowance to elderly people who require assistance with basic daily activities such as getting dressed, eating, walking, and using the bathroom. However, elderly people who do not meet the criteria for NII benefits are often left without the assistance they require. Many of these people are too feeble to leave their homes without assistance, and experience devastating loneliness and isolation.
Ezer Mizion's social clubs provide lonely, elderly people with opportunities to socialize, hear lectures, exercise, do craft work, and enjoy outings and parties. Ezer Mizion transports members to and from the clubs and provides them with a hot, nourishing meal at the end of the day. |
