| According to a recent survey conducted by the Elixir Research Institute and reported on Yediot Acharonot's popular Y-Net site, Ezer Mizion is rated among the top three organizations among the 30,000 plus non-profit organizations in Israel that today provide various forms of social services, assistance and deal with specific needs and challenges.
The survey further reveals that the Israeli public has far greater faith in the volunteer sector than the government.
Fifty percent of the population believes that the volunteer sector is conducted with transparency - compared to 10 percent for government institutions and only 5 percent for the business sector.
In recent years, voluntary organizations have been gradually taking the place of state institutions in the areas of social services, health and education, and have been gaining public trust.
While this trend is evident in various sectors of the population, it is particularly true in the under 45 age group. Specific segments of the population prefer to seek assistance from community based non-profit organizations, with whom they identify ideologically and culturally, rather than approaching government offices. |
