Knesset Member Rabbi Yaakov Litzman, former Chairman of the Knesset Finance Committee, visited Ezer Mizion’s National Headquarters to get a close look at the extensive activities conducted on-site; activities that he promotes as part of his public efforts.
The visit included a tour of the various Ezer Mizion departments and the opportunity to see them operating real time. He visited the Rehabilitative Facilities, the Children’s Division, the Medical and Rehabilitative Equipment Lending Department, the Hydrotherapy Swimming Pool, as well as the center for food services where (as each week) cooked meals were being prepared for distribution to families in which one of the members is ill or hospitalized.
MK Litzman expressed his enthusiasm with the broad variety of services that Ezer Mizion provides the community free of charge.
During the visit, MK Litzman revealed that following the nationwide bone marrow drive coordinated by Ezer Mizion in November 2007, in which 31,000 new donors joined the Registry, he approached the Minister of Health to ask how the government participates in the expense of these special drives, whose costs reached about $4,000,000 in a single year. MK Litzman noted that he lobbying for government sponsorship of blood sample testing for bone marrow registries in Israel.
At the end of the meeting, Litzman offered his help in any area in which his assistance would be required.
