Hundreds of senior citizens took part in two events conducted by Ezer Mizion together with the Bnei Brak municipality in honor of “Senior Citizen Month”.

In a day of activities conducted at the Park Leumi in Ramat Gan, about 300 women participated in a variety of fitness events that developed into a unique and beneficial experience.
Special car pools brought the participants to Park Leumi, where they were welcomed by a multidisciplinary professional team that operated several stations: walking together with an instructor, active recreation – target shooting, basketball, obstacle course, parachute activities and more, exercise toward improving balance and, in closing, laughter yoga with Mrs. Zippi Dagan – an experience for the mind and body that was enjoyed immensely by all.

Another event that took place as part of Senior Citizen Month dealt with the issue of “Being Healthy at the Adult Age”.  Dr. Eli Mizrahi, Head of Geriatrics at the Sheba Hospital at Tel HaShomer lectured on “Third Age Mesease Prevention”.  In an interactive lecture, the speaker involved the audience, listened to the problems that they face in their everyday life and tried to provide them with practical solutions to make their coping easier.

At booths representing Ezer Mizion, the Ministry of Health, Bnei Brak Municipality, Maccabi Health Service Provider, Clalit Health Service Provider and others, participants were given information and material on activities that are available on a variety of relevant subjects for the senior population.

These activities are part of those offered by the Ezer Mizion Malka Hager Health Maintenance and Fitness Center, operated in partnership with the Claims Conference and Eshel.  The center’s aim is to offer seniors an opportunity to participate in various activities and workshops, including exercise, walking groups, health promotion days, sight, hearing and balance tests, and more.
